Level of non-taxable salary changes starting from July 1, 2022

TIRANA, November 2/ATA/ The level of non-taxable salary will change starting from July 1, 2022.

The government approved amendments to the law “On income tax”. The Parliamentary Committees of the Assembly are set to begin today with review of the draft law.

“The draft law ensures that citizens with lower incomes pay lower income tax on wages; it supports the middle class, reviewing the upper band of progressive taxation. The 23% tax is foreseen to start to be applied on salaries over 200,000 ALL / month, from the current 150,000 ALL / month”, it is read in the report of the draft law by the Ministry of Finance and Economy.

According to the Ministry of Finance, this draft law was drafted in the framework of meeting the provisions set out in the government program, which states that, every citizen who gets less income, will pay less tax, but, whoever earns more, will contribute more to the common well-being and also support the middle class of the population.

In order to alleviate the tax burden of the strata most in need of the population, it is proposed that taxpayers with personal income from employment in the range from 30,001 ALL / month to 40,000 ALL / month already pay 0% tax, from 13% tax that they used to pay over the amount of 30,000 ALL / month./p.s./
