TIRANA, Oct.24/ATA/ The Llogara Tunnel, the construction of the bypass of Tirana, Gjirokastra and the financing of some lots of the outer Ring of Tirana are some of the infrastructure projects that will be funded through state budget for 2022, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku said.
In her remarks, Minister Balluku announced that next year the energy sector will be the focus of investments.
According to her, the government will establish a guarantee fund of 100 million euros for the Albania’s Electricity Power Distribution System Operator (OSHEE) to protect household and small business from the impact of the energy crisis that has affected the world.
The Minister Balluku said that the project on the rehabilitation of the Fierza Hydropower Plant, the largest in the country will be also financed.
This project acquires a special importance as the HPPs in the country provide 60% of electricity for consumption.
Rehabilitation of this hydropower plant, built about 40 years ago in the Drini River cascade, will increase efficiency, reduce maintenance costs thanks to the installation of high-tech equipment, and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions. //a.i/
