Basha: Three constitutional amendments submitted to Assembly

TIRANA, Oct 20 /ATA/-The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha stated on Wednesday that, the DP has officially submitted to the Parliament the constitutional amendments on three absolute priorities.

During a press conference, the leader of the DP Basha said that, the three main issues are: Electoral Reform, Territorial Reform and the vetting of politicians.

In his remarks, the DP leader Basha said that, “one of the main issues is related to the Electoral Reform, including all its aspects, issues of the system and guarantees in order that the next elections no longer be an arena of breeding ground for organized crime.”

“The other amendment has to do with the daily catastrophe that Albanians experience in both urban and rural areas due to the total failure of the Territorial Reform. In this context, the proposal is quite clear. There is an article in the Constitution where municipalities exist, there is a willingness that I have personally touched in every tour to have local government close to the citizens. We have presented our amendment that provides for the urban municipalities and rural municipalities, it does not matter how they will be called, rural municipalities or communes, it is important that the local government get closer to the citizens,” Basha said. //a.i/
