TIRANA, Oct.18/ATA/ The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha received today in a meeting the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla.
During the meeting, the DP leader Basha praised the electoral process in Kosovo, considering it a model and a lesson of democracy for Albania.
Basha and Gërvalla shared the same views on the importance of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, the need not to infringe on the territorial and state integrity of the Republic of Kosovo, the political unity with which Kosovo should be represented in this dialogue.
“Ending the dialogue with respective recognition is in the interest of the whole region. The first contribution EU can give in the dialogue is to convince the 5 member states to recognize Kosovo’s independence,” Basha said.
The DP leader Basha emphasized that, Albania attaches great importance to the Kosovo’s interests in regional relations.
“Following the recent developments, Novi Sad initiative, a Serbia-based company active in the oil and gas industry, is conceived as a make-up of Serbia’s image, while Belgrade, as evidenced by the events of recent weeks, is not separated from the ghosts of the past, bringing back platforms like that of the Serbian World,” Basha added.
The discussions also focused on Presevo Valley, the deletion of addresses and discrimination against Albanian citizens.
In his remarks the DP leader Basha reiterated his position that Albania should strongly protect and support the interests of Albanians in the Presevo Valley and Serbia. //a.i/
