TIRANA, October 11/ATA/ Tirana with its nanotechnology centre, Nano-Alb, will make our country a leader in the Balkans in this field.
Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj met Albanian head of nanotechnology in Barcelona, Prof. Arben Merkoçi, while emphasizing that Tirana will do everything for the Nano-Alb initiative to be a success story for young scientists.

NanoAlb is currently a virtual centre which aims to become a centre of excellence which will also serve as a model for other centres.
On the other hand, being among the only ones in the area, it will serve the position of Albania in this important field, becoming a leader in the Balkans and serving as a bridge of cooperation with other important nanotechnology centres in Europe and in the world.
Nano-Alb aims to identify and coordinate the most important activities of nanoscience and nanotechnology in Albania.
The main objective carries the areas of vital importance in Albania such as the diagnosis of diseases (including epidemics), emergency pollutants and relevant contemporary research techniques related to diagnostic methods./m.m//a.a/p.s./
