TIRANA, Oct.8 /ATA/ In July and August of this year, inflation rate ticked up respectively 2.2% and 2.4% marking an increase compared to the first half of the year, the Bank of Albania-BoA reported on Friday.
The increase in inflation rate reflected mostly the increase in food and oil prices, while the inflation rate of other items in the basket did not change significantly.
From the macroeconomic point of view, the Bank of Albania deems that the increase in inflation rate reflected the shocks originating in international markets.
According to the BoA, prices of raw materials, food and energy products have risen rapidly in recent months. This increase has reflected both the recovery of global demand and the difficulties to return to pre-crisis levels.
Inflationary pressures generated by the domestic economy appear to be increasing, but still contained.
The BoA will continue stimulating monetary policy aimed at reaching the inflation target of 3%, within 2022. //a.i/
