TIRANA, October 5 /ATA/ “No country can escape the consequences of climate change, so the mobilization and solidarity of all countries is an urgent matter.”
Albania’s Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro made the statement today at the Ministerial for the Environment in Cairo, where 42 member countries of the “Union for the Mediterranean” were gathered.
“There is nothing to unite us at this moment, but the great global crisis of climate change as we prepare for the Glasgow Summit of Heads of States (COP26). We line up without any hesitation next to the countries of the European Union with concrete objectives for reducing CO2 emissions by -20.9% by 2030 and reducing to zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050”, said Kumbaro.
Further on, she said that: “Together with other colleagues, environment ministers and EU climate commissioner Frans Timmermans, we agreed that the green agenda is the new compass of our decisions.”
“We may be small in relation to the impact that other countries have, but nature rewards us or hits us all equally. Therefore, beginning from today, let us talk less and act more for the environment, for our children, before they curse us for taking their future hostage “, said Kumbaro. /m.m/j.p/r.e/p.s./
