Çuçi: Unique permits for foreigners to work and stay in Albania

TIRANA, October 5 /ATA/ Interior Minister Bledi Çuçi spoke today at the Parliamentary Security Committee about the law “On Foreigners” that is returned for further review by President of the Republic.

Speaking about the president’s suggestion that the law needs consultation, Çuçi emphasized that there have been consultations and even a special meeting on December 9 last year while the law has been released in a special platform of public consultation.

Further on, Çuçi argued that the existing law of 2013 needed approximation with the EU directives on the issue.

Çuçi said that, “The draft law aims at improving the necessary mechanisms of issuing e-visas online and even residence permits”.

And of course this law aims to improve the field of rights of foreigners in Albania in terms of protection of the immigrants and their family members, refugees, asylum seekers, guarantees access to integration programs and services for foreigners, the possibility of providing more good information, as well as the institutional strengthening of service delivery for migrants. So, it deals only with the relationship of foreigners with the Albanian state “.

“The draft law certainly regulates the regime of entry, stay, employment and exit of foreigners in or from the Republic of Albania.”

“Regarding the comments on failure to consider the employment of Albanian citizens, pushing them more to leave the country, we clarify that there is no room to make such comparisons with the situation that the President is talking about. This law has another object and is not related to internal issues on the employment policies of Albanian youth. But, it is related exactly to the treatment of foreigners who want to live and work in Albania “, said Çuçi. /j.p/r.e/p.s./
