TIRANA, Oct 4 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/- The 3rd edition of the Kult-Art Fair cheered Gjirokastra up, promoting the values of tradition and culture.
On the Days of Heritage, the stone city was transformed in a national centre for promotion of heritage, culture and culinary delights.
Cooperation of Gjirokastra Municipality with the Ministry of Culture, TID Gjirokastra and the Albanian-American Development Foundation during the 4- day event. The fair showcased a diverse program of activities, promoting the values of cultural heritage and attracting the interest of domestic and foreign tourists.
The Kult-Art 3 Fair featured the showcase of crafts by 60 artisans, cultural activities, concerts by groups and folk ensembles from different areas of the country and Kosovo, the promotion of traditional cuisine, etc.
Minister of Tourism and Environment, also MP of the region, Mirela Kumbaro, said that such events will deliver an impact on tourism.
“Activities like this fair will be held more often in the hope that we will overcome the difficulties caused by the pandemic. Gjirokastra is like an open-air museum where the Bazaar Pass (Qafa e Pazarit) in the historic area is an ideal place to organize such events to bring together all the artisans. I am glad to see artisans from Lunxhëria to Përmet, farmers who prioritize agritourism in the areas where they come from. I think this is one of the best models of tourism development given that Albania is abundant in resources in terms of ecotourism, natural tourism, culinary and cultural tourism. “There is no better wrap-up of the Cultural Heritage Week than here in Gjirokastra,” the minister said Kumbaro.
“Gjirokastra offers an annual tourism and the calendar of activities organized by the municipality is in the service of sustainable tourism,” the mayor of Gjirokstra Flamur Golemi said.
