Balla: Waste composting plant in Cërrik promotes employment

TIRANA, October 2 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Parliamentary group of the ruling Socialist Party Taulant Balla, at the same time MP of Elbasan region, praised today the impact that brings to employment of the local inhabitants of the area, the construction in Cërrik of an organic waste composting plant.

Balla expressed his gratitude to the German government and GIZ Albania for the many projects that have advanced.

Thanks to this cooperation, said Balla, “we managed to build in Cërrik a composting plant for organic waste”.

“The waste is transformed into organic fertilizer, and the fertilizer is sold to farmers or used for the green spaces of the Municipality of Cërrik. It employs about ten professionals trained by GIZ / DKTI experts and is supported by 85 seasonal workers who are engaged in waste collection, cleaning and treatment “, said Balla.

The plant is part of the project “Modernized waste management and recycling economy in respect of the environment”, which is funded by the German government with 4.8 million Euros (about 590 million ALL) and implemented by GIZ.

The composting plant started working in May 2021 and since then has generated 400 tons of organic matter in 300 tons of composted material, which is used to improve the quality of land in the municipality of Cërrik.

35,000 inhabitants of the municipality of Cërrik benefit from this project./m.m/p.s./
