Rushaj: Breach of regulation, less space for opposition

TIRANA Sept 13 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/ The chairman of DP parliamentary group, Alfred Rushaj, at a media briefing on Monday, has reacted over the walkout of opposition from parliament in today’s plenary session adding that the regulation was breached and the space for opposition has diminished.

He said that parliament was supposed to hold a normal session with each of the political forces filling their seats on the parliamentary committees to fulfill their task in this parliament. “Unfortunately, in the first session, the rule was flagrantly disregarded.”

“And it was breached for what? The regulation was breached in order to diminish the space for representation of the opposition in parliament. This is unacceptable. Therefore, we call first on the Speaker of Parliament, secondly on the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party to adhere to the regulation. They should in no way reduce the space for opposition representation in parliament. They should not reduce the space for opposition to make its voice heard on Parliamentary Committees. Our task is to participate there, to raise the voice on behalf of the citizens and to play the role of opposition. “We will follow every regulation, but I stand here to say that we will not allow the Socialist Party to openly disregard the regulation,” he said.
