TIRANA, Aug 25 /ATA/ Thanks to timely aerial operation, the blaze in Karaburun was contained and put out within the day.
Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, shared on Wednesday images of the aerial firefighting operation in Karaburun.
“Two weeks after the hotspot was mopped up in Karaburun, the Cougar helicopter of the Armed Forces had to return there as another blaze started.”
“Fortunately, the blaze was contained in time and brought under control within the day,” said Peleshi.
Due to the heatwave that swept our country, many wildfires have broken out leaving forests, pastures and croplands charred as well as threatening human lives and houses.
Firefighters, Armed Forces and emergency teams are engaged in operations to extinguish the fires, also assisted by a team of 50 people and 3 helicopters from the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, made available through European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations./mm//aa/sm/
