TIRANA, Aug 20 /ATA/ Ministry of Defense has released the update on fire situation in the country.
In the region of Lezha
Mirditë Municipality, Fan administrative unit, Thirrë village – The fire has spread down the slope at low intensity heading to Xhuxhë village. The forces on the ground have difficulty putting out the flames due to dense smoke. There is no danger to the houses. In addition to the Dutch Chinook helicopter, FA troops and local authorities have mobilized to extinguish the fire.
Mirdita Municipality, Rubik administrative unit, old Katund village. The situation has eased off. Work has continued to bring the situation under control with the intervention of our Air Force Cougar helicopter, AF and 25 AF troops and local authorities.
Mirdita Municipality, Fan administrative unit, Munellë and Domgjon villages – Currently the fire is not dangerous and is being monitored on the spot. The fire continues burning in a bare and treeless area.
Lezha Municipality, Kolsh administrative unit, Patalej village – The fire has been contained and there is smoke in some parts of it. The situation is being monitored by local government forces.
Region of Shkodra
Municipality of Puka, Fushë Kumulli, Qershizë – The situation is under control and appears calm, but 25 troops of the Armed Forces are on standby, 8 from the forest service and 8 firefighters.
Fuzhë Arrëz Municipality, Blerim administrative unit, Flet village – The situation has eased off. 20 AF troops and 52 municipal and forest service forces are on the spot. On the side of the village of Srriqë the situation has eased off a bit, yet the air firefighting operation is ongoing.
Shkodër Municipality, Gur i zi administrative unit, Gur i zi village – The situation has eased off, however the Armed Forces and the local forest service are working to mop up the hotspot.
Region of Kukës
Municipality of Kukës, Rruna Peak – On Friday the situation is calmer, the Dutch helicopter Chinook, the troops of Armed Forces, local firefighters and employees of the administrative unit continue the operation.
The Municipality of Kukës, in the place called the dairy farm of the village Morin, near Mount Koritnik, within the natural park Korab-Koritnik protected area, the hotspot continues to be active. There are 5 employees of AdZM Kukës and 10 employees of the administrative unit Tërthorë mobilized in the fire fighting operation.
Region of Dibra
Dibër Municipality, administrative unit Selishtë, Qafë Murrë, Kaçni – Yesterday afternoon the wildfire flared up and today the firefighters of Dibra, forest service employees and 10 volunteers are on the spot. On the other hand, in Baxhaj, the employees of the municipality of Klos are working to put out the flame, but there is no danger for the residential areas.
Region of Vlora
The Municipality of Himara, the hotspot continues to be active at the Vishnja stream. The fire has not advanced overnight. Currently there is only debris fire. The rough terrain makes it difficult for the crews to intervene by land. The surface is covered with heatherbroom and strawberry-trees. The situation is being monitored by local firefighters.
