TIRANA, Aug 17 /ATA/ Pear is a fruit tree cultivated for centuries in our country.
Pears are widely cultivated almost all over the country, such as in Përmet, Pogradec, Dibër, Korçë, Vlora, Lushnje, Fier, etc.
In recent years farmers have expanded the areas planted with this crop in an effort to increase exports to the countries of the Region.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Milva Ekonomi, reports that the annual production of different varieties of pears in 2020 is estimated to be 14,500 tons.
“Areas that are known growers of these fruits are also famed for production of jam and other quality by-products,” says Ekonomi.
According to INSTAT, the production of fruit trees in our country, during 2020 has increased to 273,749 tons.
According to national data, the highest level of fruit production was reached in the region of Korça with 82,007 tons, followed by the regions of Elbasan with 38,470 tons and Fier with 33,829 tons.
