TIRANA, Aug 13/ATA/ After the United States, the European Union has also welcomed the efforts of some Western Balkans leaders to deepen and strengthen inclusive integration.
Asked about her stance on ‘Open Balkan’ initiative, the European Commission Spokesperson for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Ana Pisonero said the EU welcomes leaders’ commitments to regional cooperation, while stressing the crucial importance of inclusiveness.
During an interview for the Express newspaper, Pisonero said that, there must be made progress towards a common market project.
“We welcome the leaders ‘commitments to regional cooperation, an essential element of the Western Balkans’ European perspective and an integral part of the Stabilization and Association Process. We understand the desire to move forward. At the same time, a process that involves the entire Western Balkans region is essential. In this context, it is important for the region to make progress in establishing a Common Regional Market, a political commitment made by the six regional leaders at the Sofia Summit last autumn,” the EU spokesperson Pisonero said.
In the conclusion, Pisonero said that, the EU is creating investment opportunities in the region through the Economic and Investment Plan and that it is now up to the region to use these opportunities properly. //a.i/
