TIRANA, August 13 /ATA/ In Albania, the vast majority of cases with COVID-19 belongs to young people and the category over 70 years old who are not vaccinated.
In an interview with VOA, the head of the Infectious Diseases Control department Silva Bino said that the increase in cases, especially in the last two weeks, is worrying.
While calling for the implementation of anti-Covid rules by both the population and institutions, Bino said that according to her, mandatory mechanisms should be applied for the vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, there were confirmed 379 new cases and 1 loss of life.
The data so far show a higher number than the total of the people affected in the previous three months, May-June and July, taken together.
The health authorities are of the opinion that the reason is the heavy circulation of the ‘Delta’ variant.
The “Delta” variant was confirmed in Albania in the second half of July from samples that had been collected since June./j.p/r.e/p.s./
