TIRANA, Aug 3 /ATA/- The Ministry of Defense issued an update on situation of wild fires in our country during the last 24 hours.
According to the ministry, in Karaburun peninsula, the administrative unit of Orikum, the municipality of Vlora, the blaze continues to rage.
“There are 521 military forces on the spot, dozens from the local government including fire brigades and civil emergency forces, 50 vehicles. “Work is underway to put out the blaze from the air through the helicopters of the Armed Forces and contracted water-dropping choppers,” the Ministry announces.
Meanwhile, another fire started in Himarë, Livadhë by around 11:00hrs and 15 employees of Himara municipality are working to contain the flames.
“In the region of Shkodra, the fire has started in an area with various shrubs and trees in the village of Cukal, administrative unit Shllak, municipality of Vau Dejës. Local Service Forces of Vau i Dejes together with forest crews and residents from the community are working to extinguish the fire, which is being fueled by the winds.
So far, 10 ha of pastures have been burned down, while the situation is under control, ” the Ministry announces.
In the municipality of Gjirokastra, according to the Ministry of Defense, the fire has reached large proportions, posing a risk to the village of Krina, Asim Zeneli and Arshi Lengo.
“One person remained dead and one was injured. Work on the spot continues using all the capacities of Gjirokastra region (MZSH Gjirokastra, Dropull, Tepelena, Libohova, Përmet), Saranda municipality and AF vehicles. Firefighting forces, State Police, Civil Emergency Forces, Armed Forces, medical emergencies with 5 ambulances are also on the spot. “Work is ongoing to put out the raging blazes through helicopters,” the press release says.
Also, the blaze in the hills of Qesorat village, Lunxhëri administrative unit, Gjirokastër municipality has reactivated. 6 firefighters rushed to the scene by 2 fire engines to contain the flame.
According to the Ministry, the fire has reactivated in the forest of Shetaj village, Ishëm administrative unit of Durrës. State police forces, employees of the municipality of Durrës and two firefighting vehicles with 6 effectives are working to contain the flames.
