TIRANA, July 28/ATA/ State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi stated last evening in a television studio that the CEC has shown a Spartan impartiality in the process of imposing regulation and election administration in the April 25 Parliamentary elections.
After the release of the final OSCE / ODIHR report on April 25, Celibashi said that, “We can say for sure that as far as the CEC is concerned in relation to these elections, I think we have done a very good job rendered into an equal approach on all the parties in the race. We have proved a Spartan impartiality in the process of electoral regulation and administration.”
Celibashi said the administration process was almost up to a Western standard.
Regarding the reactions of the political parties, Celibashi stressed that it has already been accepted by all political factors, not only internally, but also by the international factor, that the election process was very good.
“The CEC is perceived as a reliable institution. As long as this institution has done its job properly, I think the elections cannot be included in the annals of bad elections. But, I cannot say that these were the best elections. The negative phenomena observed in the elections, such as vote buying or the use of the administration, remain, and will continue to remain, unfortunately. The cooperation of CEC with the political parties has been excellent. We had a very constructive cooperation.
