Albania and Kosovo commemorate writer Sulejman Krasniqi, a symbol of resistance and inspiration of generations

TIRANA, July 21/ATA/ The National Museum “House of leaves” and the KosovaPress news agency organized today a commemorative event in Tirana for Sulejman Krasniqi, the great Albanian writer, otherwise known a Balzac of Albanian letters.

General Director of KosovaPress Suzana Rakovica said that, “Sulejman Krasniqi was a representative and defender of Albanian historical values, an ardent patriot who loved every inch of Albanian lands”.

“After many sufferings of persecution, imprisonment by the then-Serbian regime, Sulejman Krasniqi was forced to flee Kosovo in 1958 to Albania, and as he put it:” I came to Albania to learn the military art so that to fight and to liberate Kosovo! ”Rakovica emphasized.

While recalling memories from the life of Sulejman Krasniqi, writer Ilinden Spasse said that, “Krasniqi often talked to me about the arguments he had with the editors of his works who could not understand or pursued an unwritten law of shrinking the works of productive writers. But, Sulejman Krasniqi was like a volcano who could not comply with those rules, so he erupted like a volcano when faced with such mediocre editors or officials.”

In the periodical and daily press, Sulejman Krasniqi has published thousands of pages such as sketches, stories, articles, reports, pamphlets and others and has published more than 21 special works, including the latest autobiographical novel, which came out shortly before he passed away on July 16, 2011./p.s./
