TIRANA, July 19 /ATA/ – Local police in the city of Vlora raised criminal charges against three managers and owners of bars and restaurants along the Waterfront Promenade (Lungomare) as a number of business owners protested over the weekend, asking for further relaxation on anti-COVID-19 measures in the southern Albanian city.
The two face charges of disobeying a lawful order of police and battery against a police office, while another person was fined and criminal charges were raised against a business owner for violating the anti-COVID restriction measures.
Police in Vlora clarified via a press release the event at the Longomare area, where a group of bar and restaurant owners played music when the nightly curfew had to be observed.
Currently, music is banned after 10 p.m. and they are expected to close at midnight. On Sunday, some establishments played the national anthem full blast in protest.
Last week, representatives of small businesses asked the Ministry of Health to lift the curfew and reverse the decision to stop music at 10 p.m.
