TIRANA, July 18 /ATA/ In these hot days which are supposed to be the summer break for artists to relax and unwind, the truth is that most of them are busy with individual creativity, especially after the prolonged pause triggered by the pandemics.
One of these artists who cannot help working is Ema Andrea. As always she was very kind to us in the interview with ATA to learn more about her engagements at this time of the year. We also asked her about the latest project on the stage of “Metropol Theater” entitled “Plant.”
“I can’ t help creating new things and maybe this is an engine that pushes me forward and why not the essence that allows me to call myself an artist. During the pandemic I did not stop creating. Maybe it is the way I have built my relationship with art that has made me turn difficulties into benefits. In the theater, this is like a motto, “Andrea told ATA.
My professional breakthrough in acting came after landing the protagonist role in the movie “A Girl and a Boy.” Kristaq follows me and I tell him that you punished me with a fatal love. Then my story with cinema is interrupted for a while to make my comeback thanks to Bujar Alimani to whom I am thankful for this film entitled ‘The Missing Earring,” says Andrea.
The pandemic had a significant impact on performing arts, the theatre included, it broke the connection with the public due to physical distancing requirements as in many other areas. During this period, nothing was put on stage, but as soon as the artistic institutions reopened, Ema debuted as a director with the “Plant” (Kombinat). This play was staged in collaboration with the “Metropol Theater” and Emma tells us how this project came to life.
“In art we experiment in different forms for the public and we have these concepts. For the second time I am invited by the Metropol Theater and this is part of the AIDA project. It is a regional project involving Montenegro, Italy and Albania. I applied and won to rework as a director. Olsi Lelaj has done an anthropological study and it is not just a play on the Plant (Kombinat) and the people who built their lives and worked there. This place has always been a special part of the city. These people built this place from scratch. Someone wanted to raze to the ground this building, which is causes tremendous pain to the people who worked and lived there. To my amazement, the younger generations find it difficult to understand this, how people settle in a place and together with the work they build the family, the artistic facet of their life and hold on to it in fear of losing it, which inspires me to perform. I have worked in abandoned spaces, it is always the tendency to awaken these spaces and give them a function which is outside of what it once had, ” Andrea tells ATA.
Regarding the new artistic season, which is expected to open in September, Andrea says, “I am applying for projects and I will come up with good output, while for the time being I am in a process of personal creativity. Of course at the back of my mind is theater if I have the conditions to produce a play. Next year, Tirana will be the European capital of young people, of performances in public spaces, so there will be plenty of opportunities for the artists. ” /a.a/sm/
