An anti-corruption network in all public system

TIRANA, July 15/ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama considered a shame the demand to legalize bribery as voiced by some doctors during a protest a few days ago.

During the event for construction of the new maternity home in Tirana, Rama said that, “I was very impressed a few days ago when during a gathering of doctors, a spokesman for them demanded the legalization of bribery. It was really impressive in terms of the level of courage and impudence of the proposal.”

“Certainly, the reward of doctors and nurses should be increased and we will increase it, as we have done in previous years. It is not an electoral commitment. The elections are just over. But, it is a planned commitment to be kept. The salaries for medical workers should be increased up to 40%”, said Rama.

“Meanwhile, through the hospital autonomy we want to move to another level of conception of the doctor’s reward. We aim at creating the possibility that doctors are not paid the same, but according to the effort and the volume of service and of course the quality of service they do individually “, stressed Rama.

This, underlined the head of government, “is the essence in relation to what hospital autonomy brings to the financial resources of doctors’ families. But, to say that the time has come to legalize bribery is really a meaningful message about the need of an anti-corruption movement in the system, throughout our state system, which has begun to be felt, but has to go much deeper.”

“There can be, in no way, an equality of all doctors, of all medical workers in the perception that everyone is the same and everyone puts their hands in the pockets of family members or patients,” Rama said.

“For this reason, we are in the process of building a whole anti-corruption network on our part so that to put a double pressure on our entire public system. Not just our health system, but our entire public system “, said Rama./p.s./
