TIRANA, June 18 /ATA/ The wife of Prime Minister Edi Rama, Linda Rama spoke today about the dynamics of life in the harsh political arena in Albania and its challenges to the career and family.
In a TV interview, she answered the question on why she decided to stay retreated from the public opinion, Linda Rama said, “To avoid any kind of misunderstanding, but also to respect the will of the people. They have chosen Edi to be the protagonist, they have chosen Edi to experiment with all his forms and Edi is much more useful in this respect to the people. So, I wanted to leave this arena to Edi and I did. It’s my choice.”
According to Linda Rama, the political and public climate surrounding the prime minister’s family can often be challenging, despite the mental preparation that many attacks would come from political opponents.
“At the moment I married Edi in 2010, Edi was the focus of many attacks and many accusations which, in fact, sometimes took unimaginable forms. And I had decided to connect my life with someone with a very clear political vocation and in the meantime a man who had the claim and ambition to become the Prime Minister of Albania “, said Rama.
“I was fully aware, she continued, that the wild political language would not spare me either”.
“I was prepared that this would happen and the attacks on Edi did not stop. In those moments you have to protect those who are near you. The first are of course the children and the parents and the relatives”, – said Rama.
Asked on how Edi Rama experienced these attacks, Linda Rama said that, “At times, Edi did not express his deep concern for the consequences they might have on people close to him who had not chosen politics”.
Speaking about the women representatives of the government cabinet and those in politics, Linda Rama said that they should serve as a catalyst for the empowerment of women and addressing their problems, a mission which according to her is not sufficiently expressed.
“The women to whom are given the opportunity to be at the highest levels; I do not see these women well up to the level of their mission. They are not up to the level of a mission; they just try to perform in their work. Personal egos must be removed; they must think that they are not there because they are the best. No, they are not the best, there are many better ones, they were simply given the opportunity even because of the capacities, ”said Linda Rama.
The wife of Prime Minister Rama, Linda Rama stressed that, “The third governance mandate is to advance an agenda to an irreversible station.”
Asked how she experienced the victory of the third term of the Socialist Party, she stressed that, “At least as long as I live with him, we do not celebrate”.
“We have never celebrated an election victory of Edi, because the victories of the parties in the elections are not like a victory in sports, that you are the best, you win a cup, the cup is there, it is indisputable , you have it for a lifetime and you rejoice in that cup. This is not the case in politics. In politics, a victory is simply a great privilege and a great opportunity to continue to do work.
