Negotiations/ Xhaçka at SEECP ministerial: Credibility test and support for regional cooperation

TIRANA, June 17 /ATA/ – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka attended Thursday the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) ministerial in Antalya, Turkey.

The SEECP ministerial focuses on regional cooperation, EU integration and good neighborly relationships.

Foreign Minister Xhaçka praised tangible accomplishments through regional cooperation, underlining that the European Union enlargement prospect has been a major impetus to further improve this cooperation.

“The EU’s credibility will very soon be tested with its decision over the first intergovernmental conference with Albania and North Macedonia. It is a crucial test not only for our two countries, but also for the region as a whole and for regional cooperation in Southeast Europe,” Foreign Minister said in her remarks.

Xhaçka praised contribution of Turkey’s SEECP chairmanship and the Regional Cooperation Council and its Secretary General Majlinda Bregu to the efforts to further advance regional agenda.

The Ministerial was followed by the SEECP Summit, whose 2021-2022 chairmanship will be held by Greece.
