TIRANA, June 17 /ATA/ –By I. Vata/ – Bislim Ahmetaj, one of the members of the so-called “the Group for DP”, accused the main opposition Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha for controlling and manipulating the electoral process for the party leadership last weekend.
“Lulzim Basha hid the electoral process, controlled it and he didn’t hold true elections for party leadership,” Ahmetaj said in an interview with the Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) on Thursday.
Ahmetaj underlined that “the Group for DP comprises founders of DP and individuals who have joined the opposition party over the years.”
“We feel sorry for DP, because we feel sorry for Albania itself. DP is one of the most precious assets of this country, although the party has abandoned the principles on the basis of which it has been founded, the principle of the free vote, the principle of career. These principles have been violated for years now,” Ahmetaj said.
He said that newly re-elected DP chairman Lulzim Basha “is a man who loves chaos and not the rule and the DP has deteriorated into a party of chaos.”
“The Group for DP” has stated that the party elections were almost invalid. If the party status is not respected, then the electoral respect is not respected too. It has lost its name and we are working to return DP to the right track,” he said.
Commenting on Basha’s statement that “the battle has just begun”, Ahmetaj said “this is Basha’s battle to totally liquidate DP.”
