TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/ About 390 judges and prosecutors have so far undergone vetting, a key process that began at the end of 2017 as part of the Justice Reform designed with the assistance of the US and EU experts to clear the justice system from the corrupt magistrates.
165 judges and prosecutors have been confirmed in office, 139 have been dismissed and 61 have given resignation, refusing to be re-evaluated by the Independent Qualification Commission.
The vetting process was cut short for 53 judges and prosecutors, it was dropped for 8 and 2 were suspended from office.
The vetting process, which is ongoing, is based on three audit criteria, legitimacy of wealth, integrity of figure and professional proficiency.
