TIRANA, June 6 /ATA/ – The main opposition Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha vowed Sunday to “undo” what he has been terming as an “electoral massacre” while addressing his supporter in the central district of Elbasan as part of campaign meetings for the party’s leadership following defeat in the April 25 general elections.
“April 25 was an unprecedented electoral massacre. We will fight every day to undo this massacre and convince allies so that together we can prepare a platform to restore democracy,” Basha said in his remarks in Elbasan.
According to Basha the central district of Elbasan was the constituency “where the most outrageous operation of imposing will of a criminal minority over the overwhelming majority of the Albanian citizens and Elbasan citizens, who headed to the polls to bring change to the country.”
Commenting on the Prime Minister Edi Rama’s appeal for unconditional cooperation with the opposition, Basha said “DP cannot accept the hand of the perpetrator of this massacre that is being extended supposedly for unconditional cooperation, while his extended hand is hitting the DP supporters in Elbasan and all over the country, threatening them to be fired from their jobs, or by closing down their business just because they participated in the campaign against their political opponent.”
“I have been consistently saying ‘No’ to his offer that is poisonous for democracy, Albania, Albanians and the Democratic Party,” Basha said.
