TIRANA, June 4/ATA/ President of the Republic Ilir Meta attended today in Elbasan the religious feast of St. John Vladimir. There he also answered to journalists regarding his dismissal procedures initiated by the Assembly.
Asked if he was praying not to be fired by the Commission of Inquiry, Meta said that, “His prayer is that God forgives those who do not know what they are doing”.
“There is no such prayer, the prayer is for God to forgive all those who do not know what they are doing and to guide them all on the path of common goodness,” Meta stated.
Asked if he would be president until 2022, Meta said the dismissal issue was raised after the April 25 elections.
“I do not want to speak in a holy place about issues that do not exist. This means that this topic of dismissal has appeared after April 25. The Assembly of the last two years was an Assembly without opposition, even today it is unfortunately 3 times more unconstitutional than it has been. And I have no such concern. If you want to deal with something serious, deal with the investigation of electoral crimes before April 25, during April 25 and after April 25. This is the most important issue for everyone, because in a democratic country the citizens must be sure that their vote is equal, that their vote is not alienated. Everyone wants to be equal before the law. And equality before the law is guaranteed only when the vote is like that, that is, when it is equal”, said Meta./p.s./
