TIRANA, June 3 /ATA/ – The Minister of Finance and Economy Anila Denaj and the General Directorate of the Customs Administration Genti Gazheli on Thursday visited company Eurolab, one of the biggest food industry wholesalers and distributor operating in Albania.
Launched since 1995 and already part of the regional market, the company has applied with the General Directorate of the Customs Administration for Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status as a way to secure competitive advantages in accessing foreign markets faster.
During the visit, Finance Minister Denaj said that the Authorized Economic Operator status is a certificate recognized in the European Union member states.
“Most importantly, the AEO status is a security certificate for faster customs procedures and services as part of a Common Recognition Agreement signed with the CEFTA countries in compliance with EU legislation, agreeing on a package of measures designed to facilitate not only free movement of goods in economic and time aspect, but also in terms of increasing prestige of the respective customs administrations in delivering services to business,” Denaj said.
“Your company files 6,000 customs declarations annually and it is a considerable volume of transactions at various border crossings and if the AEO status is granted your company will significantly cut time and procedures for your business,” Finance Minister said, terming the AEO status as a “diplomatic economic passport.”
Finance Minister Anila Denaj, and the General Director of Customs Genti Gazheli, handed over the first certificates of the Authorized Economic Operator status to 4 Albanian companies, while 4 other enterprises are in the process to obtain this status.
