TIRANA, May 10 /ATA/ – The Ministry of Justice and the Law Faculty of Tirana State University hosted a joint event marking the National Justice Day titled “National Day of Justice 2021; Reflection on Origin and Future of Albanian Justice.”

Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj, the Dean of the Law Faculty Prof. dr. Sokol Mëngjesi, and the Deputy Justice Minister Adea Pirdeni attended the event.

Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj said in her remarks that “justice reform in Albania was a must to bring about a fundamental change and build a justice system accessible to everyone, fair, impartial and transparent, but the reform also shed light on the potential and professional capacity of our justice officials.”

According to her, the justice reform, like never before, was designed and implemented through the continued technical and financial assistance of the European Union and the United States of America.

Minister Gjonaj noted that full implementation of the justice reform has been delayed both for objective reasons and institutional disputes.

“However, it has been and it is the steadfast will of the Albanian government and the Ministry of Justice to meet the public’s expectations, restore the trust of citizens in the justice system through a significant increase in its efficiency,” Justice Minister said.
