TIRANA, May 5 /ATA/ The Institute of Statistics published on Wednesday the Labor Force Survey, according to which, the official unemployment rate in 2020 for the population aged 15 and over is 11.7% and records an increase of 0.2%, compared to 2019. But according to INSTAT, compared to the previous year, the youth unemployment rate has decreased by 0.7% in 2020.
Referring to INSTAT, for men, the joblessness rate is 0.4% lower than for women. The joblessness rate for young people aged 15-24 is 26.5% (27.0% for men and 25.9% for women).
Based on the estimates of the Labor Force Survey, during 2020, the number of persons in the labor force is 1,407,934. Women make up 44.6% of the workforce and men 55.4%. 1,243,345 people are employed with women accounting for 44.5% of employees and men 55.5%.
The number of unemployed is estimated at 164,613 people, of whom 45.5% are women and 54.5% are men.
The labor force participation rate for the population aged 15-64 is 69.1%.
