Sami Frasheri high school being built back larger, up to best standards

TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/  – Construction of the Sami Frasheri high school in Tirana is in full swing.

The Minister of State for Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj inspected Sunday the construction site of Sami Frasheri high school, one of the 160 educational facilities being built back across the country under the post-earthquake reconstruction programme.

“Sami Frasheri high school is set to become the largest and the most beautiful educational facility in Albania. The school’s tradition is being restored with contemporary education conditions and premises and a modern architecture with the new building designed to house 48 classrooms for 1400 students,’ Ahmetaj said.

The Reconstruction Minister noted that this school is becoming a model for the reconstruction through a fantastic design to ensure double school capacities and a modern structure designed to meet contemporary standards for habitability and environmental comfort and provide spaces for contemporary education.

“I am proud that this school is being built back larger and more beautiful and with spaces for contemporary education of the children in the capital and not only,” he said.

Minister informed that 160 new educational facilities are being built in whole territory affected by the earthquake, as well as 5000 single-family homes and 12.000 apartments.

“Let’s not forget that 11.000 families were housed in makeshift tents in January 2020, while only 500 of them live still in tents though they receive the rental bonus,” Ahmetaj said.
