Çomo: Possible connection between COVID-19 vaccine and blood clot not real perception

TIRANA, March 17 /ATA/ – The head of the Infectious Disease Hospital Najada Çomo said Wednesday it is still too soon to relax  the COVID-19 restrictions and a possible connection between the coronavirus vaccine and thrombosis is a not a real perception.

“If you are to ask a doctor whether the restriction measures should be eased, he won’t agree. It is too soon to relax the restrictions. If a downward trend in number of hospitalizations is noticed, then we can mull plans to relax the measures. However, a decision is up to the Committee of Experts,” Çomo said in a media interview.

Çomo also commented on the most recent debates over safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine, saying there is no reason for panic and the alleged connection between the vaccine and the blood clot is not real.

“The immunisation process, which started with the medical personnel, is actually the best thing that could happen in 2021. There is no room for panic. Does AstraZeneca vaccine pose any problem? Definitely not, despite the debates over possible blood clots in lungs, hands, foot or other body organs. No direct connections with the vaccine have established,” Çomo said.
