TIRANA, March 16 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Tuesday that the university admission system is digital, merit-based, transparent and fair, prioritizing the vocational education.
Rama said that “what has been done in higher education is not enough after those intending to return to the helm of education today ruined generations of students with their diploma factories, organizing the biggest fraud ever, the second after the pyramid schemes in exchange for the second biggest lie, producing the highest number of lawyers per square km. ”
Prime Minister said that “they turned university admission into an economic-political business to the benefit of party coffers and to the detriment of talents, competition and merit system.”
It is a great pleasure, he said, to see that children are no longer divided into rich and poor, into ours and theirs, into known and unknown, but they are ranked based on their average grade scores making their way up to university on their own.”
“No one can keep them from entering the university campus now, they are free to go to university, but not to fake universities like ‘Vitrina’ or ‘Kristal,’ but to internationally accredited ones,” Rama said.
“Albania cannot afford to sustain universities that produce countless of unemployed lawyers and economists who, after wasting 5 years and the investment of their parents’ savings, have no employment perspective. Albania must prioritize the employment of young people, promoting development of skills and specializations that match market developments and demand,” said Rama.
“Two-year vocational programs, in addition to vocational high schools, have been announced national programs and we are determined to take them to a whole new level. Albania will bridge the terrible gap of scientific knowledge created in a long period of time,” added Rama.
