TIRANA, March 13/ATA/- “The president of the country should have a sweet and not a biting tongue”, said today Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, referring with regret to yesterday’s event, during a meeting with the residents of Neighborhood NO 13. He added that what happened yesterday was a sad moment, which could very well have been avoided and not degraded into physical violence and clashes.
“Yesterday, there was an unfortunate situation, a sad moment. We may have different convictions, but at the moment when you do not agree, you go to solve it in court. It is several times more serious when it happens from the President of the Republic, who should represent the best that the country has and not the worst”, underlined Veliaj.
Furthermore, Veliaj clarified that the President’s quarrel was with two police officers on the threshold of retirement. “Trifoni, one of the policemen”, – said the mayor, – “he has been a policeman all his life, he has served the state and all the Municipalities, so it is unfortunate that on the threshold of his retirement he is beaten by the President of the Republic”./p.s./
