Support from ARDA/ Ermiri in Rrogozhina set up a pomegranate orchard

TIRANA, March 11 /ATA/ By financial support of government programs, not only farmers, but also young entrepreneurs have focused on investments in the rural sector, bringing development in products and sectors that have great potential to develop and identify Albania in foreign markets.

Pomegranate production is one of the directions that is being viewed with great interest by young entrepreneurs, in addition to those of medicinal and aromatic herbs or forest fruits, which are in great demand in the domestic market and for export.

Director of the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development Frida Krifca visited the Pomegranate Orchard in Okshtun, Rrogozhina, a new investment that Emir has raised with the support of ARDA.

“Ermiri is one of those young people who begins work at five a.m. in the morning. He has dreams and he makes them a reality through working in his own country and he has options. He graduated in Natural Sciences for mathematics, but likes rural development. He began with livestock, however, the lack of enough space for cattle made him change direction without leaving agriculture “, said Krifca.

With vigor and desire for development, he invested in the establishment of an orchard in Okshtun of Rrogozhina.

With the support of ARDA through the IPARD Program he has planted 23.6 hectares of pomegranate with an automated irrigation plant.

“Ermir’s goal is to produce as much as possible and increase the area planted with different crops”, said Krifca.

In recent years, the interest of construction businesses to diversify in the agricultural sector, mainly in orchards, has increased.

Agriculture accounts for about 20% of the country’s gross domestic product and its share has increased in recent years, thanks to investments with financial support from the government./p.s./
