Propaganda on Albanians moving abroad, shocking

TIRANA, Feb 19 /ATA/ – I. Vata/ “Only during the period of dictatorship, when Enver Hoxha locked the people in a cage, the Albanians could not leave the country,” Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Friday in a conversation with the citizens in Vlora, calling the propaganda about the Albanians’ movement abroad as shocking.

Speaking about the emigration of Albanians, Rama said that, “Albanians did not go abroad only when the country was in isolation under the dictatorship. ”

“If we look on the past, Albanians have always moved and I can never say no to a young woman or a young man who is 20-25 years old today, when he says I want to prove myself now because I cannot wait for a single next term, neither for three nor seven to realize my dreams here, but I want to achieve my goals there today. We live in another time,” he said.

Rama added that regarding the movement of Albanians abroad, the propaganda here is really shocking.

“The propaganda surrounding the movement abroad in tandem with the spleen vented with it is shocking. Of course, I liken the movement of a youngster who does not achieve his aspirations here to a dying blood cell in the sense of the pain I feel, but on the other hand Albanians have started to move abroad since the ’90s, and it’s a sheer madness to hear that under the SP, under Edi Rama, 500 thousand people have left the country or there are more Albanians leaving than coming back, but let’s not forget that there are many Albanians who have chosen to come back in these periods.

“If you go to a village in the areas relying on agriculture, agriculture is developing at a rapid pace, it is the experience of those returning from emigration that has given a significant impetus to the development of this sector,” he said.
