TIRANA, Jan 23 /ATA/ – The 29-km Vlora bypass road project is tracking at 70 percent completion and intense work is underway to make sure that construction of the road network bypassing the southern city of Vlore in order to improve the road traffic flow along the southern coast of Albania completes ahead of schedule.
Work is already underway in the area of Kanine despite the unfavourable weather conditions.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku and the Director of the Albanian Road Authority, Ergys Verdho, accompanied by Vlora Mayor Dritan Leli, inspected Saturday noon the ongoing construction works on this major national infrastructure project.
“I am pleased to visit Kanine today, where work to construct Vlora bypass road goes on following a difficult and complex phase concerning the expropriation process. But work is now in full swing to construct the most difficult section of the entire project thanks to the good cooperation with all stakeholders and the regional residents,” Balluku said.
The Director of the Albanian Road Authority described the construction work on this road section as the project’s “Achilles heel”, underlining that “a common understanding was reached with the local community and work is now underway on the 10th km of the road project.”
Infrastructure Minister said that the Vlora bypass road project was the jewel in the crown of the infrastructure of the country’s south. She underlined that a series of important infrastructure projects are being developed in southern Albania, including the Fier bypass road, which completed few months ago, Vlora international airport, and Vlora bypass road.
