TIRANA, Jan.11 /ATA/- The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi said today in a televised interview that this year, “the inflows have been twice as high compared to 2010, while there have been low-recurrence interval floods.
“First, we must mention the work of the municipal staffs and prefectures set up a few days ago after the flood hit the country. There has been good coordination of the headquarters of the endangered and affected regions of Shkodra, Dibra, Lezha, Fier, Vlora, Durrës, Gjirokastra and Tirana, where it was identified the greatest risk,” Peleshi said.
“There has been river bed stability. We are out of great danger and critical areas such as Bushati, Nënshkodra and Dajçi, which in the past years, starting from the flood of 2010, which was the biggest one and onwards, have been areas most at risk of flooding, causing major damage to families, homes, and livestock,” Peleshi said.
“About 8900 ha all over Albania flooded. About 46 building have been evacuated. The largest number of evacuated dwellings were in the district of Lezha. Our Armed Forces have been on the ground along with Support Command in the most endangered areas in Lezha and Shkodra,” he added. //a.i/
