TIRANA, Jan 9 /ATA/- A dinghy with illegal emigrants aboard from the third countries was halted last night at the Vjosa Delta.
Sources from the Ministry of Defense report that the operation for prevention and crackdown on trafficking of illegal migrants from the third countries to Italy was carried out by the Coast Guard, the State Police and the Guardia di Finanza.
According to the press release, the operation for seizure of the dinghy and evacuation of persons on board, was carried out in rough seas.
The people on board, including women and children, were evacuated through two Coast Guard warships to be taken to Triport, Vlora.
The structures of the Regional Police Directorate of Vlora and Border Police, led by Prosecution, continue indepth investigation to throw light on smuggling of illegal emigrants by sea and bring the suspects to justice.
