TIRANA, Jan 4 /ATA/- By A. Fortuzi/- The suspension of the automotive testing and compliance process, a service which from January 1 has been transferred to the state, will not cause any impediments to the circulation of vehicles whose technical inspection deadlines have expired, as a government decision dated December 23 extends by a three-month period the testing expiration date.
Blendi Gonxhe, Director of the General Directorate of Road Transport Service (DPSHTRR) told the Albanian Telegraphic Agency that citizens, whose automotive testing deadline has expired, should not worry, because a decision of the Council of Ministers informs that the expiration deadline is postponed by three months and vehicle users will only need to pay the annual fee and will be able to get the cars tested afterwards. “First, under CoMD, dated 24-December 2020, no. 36, each current certificate gains another 3 months validity, so all those having a deadline to re-test benefit a deadline extension,” he told ATA.
“This is done for two reasons, first, we enable the vehicle users to make up for lost time since during 2020 there were traffic disruptions, and secondly we give time to the new testing service to prepare for resumption as the changes to the road code approved by the government are slated to go through parliament in the first weeks of January,” – said Gonxhja.
