Agriculture and construction, engines of economic development during 2021

TIRANA, Dec 24 /ATA/ Minister of Finance and Economy, Anila Denaj, stated on Thursday that agriculture and construction remain the two sectors that have contributed the most to the Gross Domestic Product during this year and will continue to drive economic recovery throughout 2021.

The publication on GDP data released by INSTAT today showed that in the third quarter of 2020, the economic decline was at 3.47% from 10.2% in the previous quarter, indicating a trajectory towards recovery.
Denaj said that construction and agriculture were two sectors that had contributed the most to Albanian economy.

According to Minister Denaj, further investment will be made in these two sectors and they are a priority of the government.

“Agriculture is the engine in these two years and is expected to increase contribution to GDP in 2021 along with construction. Both these sectors continue to contribute positively. They are also very good signals driven by the internal situations that the country is going through. Construction in the light of post-earthquake recovery will continue to be stronger and a significant monetary value will go to businesses and employees from the state budget.”
