TIRANA, Dec 14 /ATA/ – The Socialist Party lawmaker said in a televised interview on Monday that recent protests across the country are organized, coordinated and inspired by the opposition.
According to her, no civil society activists, but representatives of the political parties, namely the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration, have joined these protests, as it was the case a day ago.
She said that the incident where Klodian Rasha was killed by a police officer is a shocking event.
“The need for safety and security is definitely essential for every human being and this incident certainly drew the attention of the public and the state institutions. But I believe that such a precedent, which doesn’t take place in our country only, but it happens in other countries too, will serve as a lesson to correct certain conducts and procedures when it coming to selecting young recruits for the police academy and providing the needed infrastructure,” Felaj said.
Socialist lawmaker also commented on the protesters’ demand for the resignation of the Interior Minister and the State Police chief.
“The Minister of Interior doesn’t have an operational role, but he has a moral responsibility. The Minister, in the name of the moral he wants to convey personally, but also on behalf of the political force that trusted him the position of the Interior Minister, decided to step down, assuming in this case the responsibility. It is actually a single person and not the entire State Police to be blamed for what happened on December. The police officer is the only responsible person and he has been arrested,” Socialist MP said.
