TIRANA, Dec 9 /ATA/ – Eugena Tomini, the Head of the Surveillance and Epidemic Intelligence Service at the Public Health Institute, said Wednesday evening that the end of this week will be decisive regarding the measures due to be taken during the year-end holidays.
“This week will be decisive in terms of measuring the main indicators. The end of this week will be decisive for the situation during the year-end holidays, although no big gatherings should take place during the celebrations. Everyone should celebrate with their own families at home,” Tomini said.
“There is a number of factors involved when someone contracts the novel coronavirus for a second time or when virus hotspots reactivate when not properly treated,” Tomini said, commenting on cases of reinfection of the virus that causes COVID-19.
She urged citizens to receive seasonal flu vaccine, adding that a low intensity of the seasonal influenza has been noted.
“The seasonal flu vaccination is crucial, not only during the pandemic. It is worth mentioning that a low intensity of the respiratory infections has been recorded,” she added.
