Roth: Germany is committed to opening negotiations with Albania

TIRANA, Dec. 8/ATA/- Germany is committed to opening negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia, the German Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office, Michael Roth said today in Brussels.

“Germany is making every effort to open negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia as soon as possible, but some conditions must be met,” Roth said.

“We, Germany, as the leaders of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, are doing everything in our capacity to achieve unity as soon as possible, to organize intergovernmental conferences for the membership of North Macedonia, and after fulfilling the remaining conditions, with Albania as well,” Roth said, who is participating in the preparatory consultations of the next summit of the European Union.

In his remarks, Roth underlined that any action, other than opening of negotiations with these two countries, would be a very serious political mistake, which would endanger stability and security in the Western Balkans, and this would massively undermine security in Europe. “Everyone must know this,” he said. //a.i/
