TIRANA, Nov 7 /ATA/ For avid visitors of the Archaeological Site of Fier, a new application is now available to them that offers a 360 degree-virtual tour.
The application has been developed thanks to cooperation of the Ministry of Culture with the SIG Foundation and is also part of the Albanian government program for the digitalization of cultural assets in our country.
Ervin Rushitaj, expert of the SIG foundation, told ATA, that “through this application we aim to lure as many tourists as possible to our country by offering them 360 degree- 3D virtual reality of excavation sites.
This project introduces another innovation for Apollonia, which is the application on two major platforms android and IOS. We have integrated the 360 degree virtual tour into the application, we have also integrated the monuments and artefacts housed in Apolonia which can been seen by clicking through an attached slideshow.
This application helps every tour operator, offering the possibility of information in advance on what a tourist expects to see in Apollonia Park and is an additional attractive tool.
Ornela Dyrmishaj, Director of the Archaeological Site of Fier said that, “the new application is developed for the first time for archaeological parks in our country. Its launch in Apollonia Site brings the public and visitors closer to monuments and artefacts on display especially today amid the pandemic situation. “But the 3D virtual visit to the Archaeological Park is accessible to anyone who is interested and wants to learn more from this park.”
This application is important for both local and foreign visitors, who can download it for free on their phone. It is also important for school students, who find it difficult to organize tours during this situation, but through the application can develop their projects on this park in the light of program Education through Culture .
