TIRANA, Oct 29 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ – The DP Secretary for Electoral Affairs, Ivi Kaso, said on Thursday that the opinion of the Venice Commission regarding the amendments to the Electoral Code carries the value it has always had whenever we have seen changes to the electoral legislation for at least in these two decades, even in the case of consensual changes.
“It has always been the common opinion of Venice Commission and the ODIHR that has set the seal on the legal framework of elections by certifying this legal framework as based on international standards.
“This is exactly what was expected of Venice Commission’s opinion on these unilateral changes, at least the universally accepted international arbitrator was expected to deliver the opinion whether these changes aligned our electoral legislation with international standards or not,” said Kaso.
