TIRANA, October 27/ATA/ Albania has significant potentials of energy resources, mentioning especially the energy of water, solar, oil and its by-products, natural gas, biomass, etc.
Academician Jorgaq Kaçani made the statement today at the scientific forum on energy and some of the challenges of its consumption in houses held at the Academy of Sciences.
Kaçani said that the purpose of this activity is for the Academy of Sciences to promote research products and strengthen cooperation between research institutions in service of development of the country.
“The latest developments in the energy sector are to be welcomed, which consist not only of legal improvements, but also of concrete achievements such as the application of photovoltaic plants, the development of small HPPs, the completion of the TAP project, the establishment of the Agency for Energy Efficiency, support for the initiative for the construction of the Skavica HPP, etc., support for the study of the viability of the construction of wind power plants, etc., projects for strengthening of transmission and distribution networks and projects for thermal insulation of buildings, etc. “, – underlined Kaçani.
Academician Kaçani said that, “Energy represents an important sector for the development of Albania, which faces various challenges and which include technical, economic, social, environmental aspects, etc. Being a complex sector and with a great impact on the lives of citizens, it is at the same time a sector where scientific research requires a great support with human and financial resources, as well as a modern research infrastructure.
We, continued Kaçani, are witnesses to the obvious need for a strengthening of scientific work in the field of energy.
