Electoral Code/ Parliament will not wait for a second; Venice opinion beyond April 25

TIRANA, October 27 /ATA/ Parliament will not wait even for a second to vote on the Electoral Code, while Venice Commission’s opinion will remain to address every issues that may arise beyond April 25th.

Prime Minister Edi Rama made the statement today at the press conference from Rinas.

“I have also made it crystal clear to the Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi in a conversation we had, as always, direct and friendly talk, without gloves, that the Parliament will not wait a second because we have the elections on April 25 and there is no possibility of we to enter the spiral of an adventure where Ilir Meta invites us, who of course does not intend to improve the Electoral Code, but intends to sabotage this process from his extremist anti-majority and anti-parliament stance “, Rama stressed.

The head of government said that, “The Venice Commission is definitely welcomed to bring its opinion when it matures. That opinion will be discussed with all political forces and of course given the time we have available it will remain to address any issues that may arise beyond April 25th. We do not have time to lose and we cannot enter into any adventure, because the new structures of the election administration have started working and need to have the election law written in black and white and the implementation of the election law requires its time”.

“Let’s not forget that a commitment has been made for biometric identification, the time is extremely tight, not to say impossible. But, we have no reason not to refuse from the very first second that Ilir Meta’s effort as the effort of an alternative leader of a fragmented opposition and an absolute leader of a degraded party, “Rama said./k.s//a.a/p.s./
