TIRANA, October 7/ATA/ Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde stated today in Tirana that Sweden fully supports Albania’s integration into the European Union.
In the joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama after the meeting, Minister Linde stressed that, “We appreciate the hard and serious work done by the Albanian government to prepare for the candidacy and membership for the future.”
“When we look at the reports from the EU, an area where Albania has been very successful is the area of the rule of law and the new justice system. I am convinced that one of the reasons why I am here with the Minister of Internal Affairs is to discuss how we can work more closely on organized crime issues and crime-related issues,” Linde said.
The Swedish minister added that, “Unfortunately, in Sweden we have problems with organized crime and we will try to get support from different countries in the fight against this problem, because it is a problem without borders.”
“As PM Rama put it, unfortunately criminal gangs are collaborating in European territory and if we fight this phenomenon together then we will have the opportunity to make a change in what they are doing by destroying our society,” said Linde adding that, “I am very grateful that the Prime Minister was very open and constructive trying to do things together in this aspect”./ks/p.s./
